Jimmy Fallon ‘Doesn’t Have a Drinking Problem,’ NBC Boss Says

TCA 2016: Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt says network has discussed personal safety with Fallon

NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt shot down reports that “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon has a problem with alcohol but confirmed that the network has had conversations with him about his safety.

“He’s great and he doesn’t have a drinking problem that any of us know about,” Greenblatt said Wednesday following a Television Critics Association panel. “He goes out and has fun and he’s had some accidents. Aside from that, he’s in better shape than he’s ever been in.”

Asked whether he had discussed “being more careful” with Fallon, Greenblatt said he had not.

But when he was asked whether anyone at NBC had had such a discussion with Fallon, Greenblatt responded, “Sure. We are always worried about his safety and health. Yeah, there’s been conversations about that. But the stories are exaggerated.”

In a detailed November story, the New York Post reported that Fallon’s drinking was “one of NBC’s biggest worries” following incidents in which he injured his ring finger at home, then injured his hand during an event at Harvard after he dropped a bottle of Jagermeister.

NBC has repeatedly denied that Fallon has a drinking problem.
