Jimmy Fallon Roasts Betsy DeVos As the New ‘Secretary of Edu-Cake Boss’ (Video)

“No more textbooks. They’re too heavy and got too many words,” faux Secretary of Education says

Jimmy Fallon roasted new Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos during Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” by inviting comedian Jo Firestone on as the “Secretary of Edu-Cake Boss.”

The faux DeVos started the interview off staring into the wrong camera before launching into her plans. “Idea number one: no more textbooks,” she announced. “They’re too heavy and got too many words.”

She continued: “From here on out, every school will be switching to a pamphlet-based education system.”

The Secretary of Edu-Cake Boss went on to show the “history pamphlet” that will be implemented in her curriculum.

“It tells how the dinosaurs fought the Vikings then went on to form the band America,” she said to a confused Fallon. The next pamphlet on foreign languages simply said, “Just speak English.”

“Now, Mr. Trump wrote this one himself,” she said — and then ate the pamphlet.

DeVos, who was recently mocked on “Saturday Night Live,” is considered to be short on public school experience by many Democrats. On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence cast a tie-breaking vote that got her confirmed as Secretary of Education in a historic 51-50 vote. DeVos was widely ridiculed for her performance during the confirmation hearing, with teachers unions and civil rights activists upset because of her support of charter schools and her conservative religious beliefs.
