Donald Trump was scheduled to join Jimmy Kimmel on his special show from Brooklyn, New York, Tuesday. But the late-night host doesn’t know why the GOP presidential frontrunner was a no-show.

“You know Donald Trump was supposed to be here tonight — but last night, his people called and canceled on us,” Kimmel said in his opening monologue.

“They were a little bit cryptic about why he canceled. They said ‘he has a major political commitment, but he did want me to relay the message to you that — if he was here, he would have been great,’” Kimmel relayed to ABC viewers.

“I’m dying to find out what this major political commitment was. Usually, it means he has to go on CNN to call someone an idiot, or something,” the late-night host quipped.

“Why did he cancel? We told him there were cameras here, right? Are Tuesday nights the night he volunteers down at the orphanage?” Kimmel joked.

“But don’t worry, we’re giving everyone in our audience a basketball dipped in cologne — so you can fully experience what it would have been like if he was here.

“The good news of Donald not being here tonight is, now we don’t have to build a wall around Guillermo,” he quipped about his Mexican-American sidekick.

Trump has already made appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”

Kimmel told CNN on Monday that Trump’s appearance would not be a traditional interview. “I’m not interviewing him… It will be in studio, it’ll be live, and it’ll all make perfect sense when you see it,” he said.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” airs at 11:35 p.m. on ABC.
