Kimmel Tops Colbert to Nab Second Place in Demo With Biggest Audience in 8 Weeks

Jimmy Kimmel experienced a viewership bump last week, leading him to top Stephen Colbert for second place in late-night among adults 18-49.

For the week of August 7, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” nabbed 2.1 million total viewers, marking a 20 percent increase in total viewers from the previous week’s 1.7 million.

CBS’ “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” was tops in total viewers for the week, averaging 2.7 million, while “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” averaged 2.5 million.

Kimmel’s 549,000 viewers in the coveted 18-49 demographic topped the 543,000 that “Late Show” received. “Tonight Show” was in the top spot for the demo with 830,000 viewers.

Kimmel’s August 9 telecast grabbed 2.3 million total viewers, making it the host’s most-watched episode since June 12, when the show followed the fifth game of the NBA Finals. The guests on August 9 were Jim Parsons, Damson Idris and The War on Drugs.
