Jimmy Kimmel Likens Trump Media Lunch to ‘Game of Thrones’ Red Wedding (Video)

“Only Tucker Carlson survived,” Kimmel quipped

Did Donald Trump show all of cable and network television’s news anchors the hospitality they deserve? We won’t know because a recent media lunch held between the president and the anchors was strictly off the record, but late night host Jimmy Kimmel had an idea of how it went.

On Thursday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” the host talked about Trump’s “interesting move.”

“He definitely spit in their food, right?” he said.

But more according to Kimmel, the lunch probably wasn’t a typical lunch but rather something more akin to the infamous Red Wedding on “Game of Thrones.”

For the uninitiated (sorry for the spoilers), the Red Wedding occurred when Walder Frey sought to have his revenge on the Starks after they snubbed an arranged marriage. This resulted in one of the most gruesome, bloody weddings in fictional history — and the death of some prominent characters.

In this version of the Red Wedding, Trump gathered anchors like CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and gave them “meat and wine and music” before filling their bodies with arrows.

“Only Tucker Carlson survived,” Kimmel quipped.

The parody comes after news that during a meeting in February, President Trump urged then-FBI director James Comey to investigate and jail journalists for reporting leaks. The relationship between Trump and cable news anchors has been tenuous, to say the least, with the president calling CNN “fake news” multiple times. The Donald J. Trump for President organization even created an ad which features the words “fake news” in bold, red font over photos of news anchors, including CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

On the other hand, he’ll go out of his way to congratulate Fox News — while also continuing to condemn other outlets.
