Joan Cusack Joins ‘Shameless’

Joan Cusack joins the Showtime series Shameless

Joan Cusack has signed on to appear in all twelve episodes of Showtime's next original series "Shameless." 

Cusack will be playing the role of Sheila, a Chicago housewife with a horny teenage daughter. She replaces Allison Janney, who left after filming the pilot episode to join the ABC comedy "Mr. Sunshine."

"Shameless" tells the story of a dysfunctional, drunken patriarch played by William H. Macy and his six rebellious children. Emmy Rossum plays the eldest one of the brood. 

Cusack has a long list of feature film credits and two Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress. "Shameless," which is based on a British,drama is being produced by "The West Wing's" John Wells and series creator, Paul Abbott.
