Joan Rivers and E! have kissed and made up.
The caustic comic will be back on the red carpet for the cable network next month, signing on to host the network’s post-Golden Globes and SAG Awards editions of "Fashion Police." Rivers left E! in 2003 for a rich deal with TV Guide Network, but was dropped by the latter network in 2007.
Rivers will not be returning to her old E! gig hosting live pre-show coverage of awards. Those duties will continue to be the domain of E! mogul Ryan Seacrest.
Instead, Rivers will host the one-hour "Fashion Police" specials with her "Celebrity Apprentice" castmate Khloe Kardashian Odom, along with Giuliana Rancic and Jay Manuel. Daughter Melissa Rivers has been named a producer on the specials.
E!’s deal with Rivers covers the Globes and SAG Awards. There’s also an option for Rivers to do post-Oscars commentary, though nothing’s been decided on that front just yet.
“Joan is a true entertainment icon and one of the funniest people in Hollywood. We are extremely excited to have her back at E!” said Lisa Berger, E!’s executive VP of entertainment programming.
E!’s "Fashion Police" on the Globes will premiere Monday, Jan. 18 at 10 p.m. The post-SAG show debuts Sunday, Jan. 24 at 9 p.m.
Gary Snegaroff is the E! executive-in-charge of production for “Fashion Police”; Lisa Bacon serves as executive producer.
UPDATE: TNT is also getting into the red carpet act.
The network today announced that it was partnering with People for a half-hour SAG Awards pre-show. It will air Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m., just before TNT’s broadcast of the acting honors.
People deputy managing editor Peter Castro will co-host with TNT entertainment correspondent Thea Andrews. The special will be streamed on both TNT.com and TBS.com.
In addition, the TNT and TBS websites will host a pre-pre show starting at 6:30 p.m. EST.
