Joe Scarborough Calls Trump ‘Ignorant of World History,’ Worries About International Crisis

“President Trump’s decision last week to assassinate the most powerful military figure in the Middle East was … audacious,” Scarborough writes in the Washington Post

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough flamed President Trump in a piece for the Washington Post that called him “ignorant.”

The article was released Monday and amplified on Scarborough’s “Morning Joe” program Tuesday.

“President Trump’s decision last week to assassinate the most powerful military figure in the Middle East was, likewise, audacious. But unlike MacArthur at Inchon, Trump likely did not grasp the gravity of his decision. How could he? The former reality TV star has long been ignorant of world history and current events,” he wrote, going on to cite a 2015 interview during which then-candidate Trump did not know who Iranian General Qasem Soleimani was.

Scarborough wrote that Trump misidentified Soleimani as a Kurdish commander, then “weakly attacked the interviewer for ‘throwing around names of people and where they live.’”

The “Morning Joe” co-host went on to say that what he sees as Trump’s ignorance is dangerous and so, too, is the president’s “erraticism.”

On Tuesday’s “Morning Joe,” Mika Brzezinski added: “This is with an administration that has seen so much chaos and turmoil, it’s not like anyone else in there is able to guide him in any way.”

“Trump spends most of his waking hours showing the world just how fallible he is. Critics have long warned of a time when this fatally flawed man would be forced to confront an international crisis,” Scarborough wrote. “That time has arrived and it is a crisis of Trump’s own making.”
