Joe Scarborough: Republican Donors ‘Lied To by Conservative Media’ (Video)

The MSNBC host echoed comments by Newsweek columnist David Frum, scolding the "conservative entertainment establishment"

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough accused the conservative media Monday of lying about the challenges facing Republicans throughout the 2012 election season. His comments echo incendiary remarks made last week by speechwriter and Newsweek columnist David Frum.

Screenshot"If I were a donor, my biggest problem would be that I was lied to. I was lied to by the, as David Frum said, the conservative entertainment establishment," Scarborough said on "Morning Joe." "I mean, the conservative media establishment. They lied to the donors, they lied to the base, they lied to everybody about how Romney was ahead and things were looking good in the Senate."

Last week, Frum, a conservative who once wrote speeches for President George W. Bush, appeared on "Morning Joe" and said: "Republicans have been fleeced and exploited and lied to by a conservative entertainment complex."

And though Frum dodged Scarborough's request to "name names," the morning talk-show host was quick to point fingers.

"The pollsters lied. Everybody lied," he said. "And so guys keep writing checks and find out the reason they went to Minnesota and Pennsylvania is because all of these people that were saying Romney was going to win Ohio, they knew he was not going to win Ohio. They knew all along."
