Joel McHale to Host 2017 People’s Choice Awards

Fan-voted ceremony to reveal winners on Wednesday, Jan. 18

Joel McHale will host the 2017 People’s Choice Awards ceremony, CBS announced Monday.

The star of the network’s “The Great Indoors” will MC the fan-voted awards show on Wednesday, Jan. 18 in Los Angeles.

“Joel is a brilliant comedic talent, and the perfect host for this show,” said People’s Choice executive producer Mark Burnett in a statement. “He is a triple threat. An actor; a writer and a performer, and we look forward to him bringing all of those amazing talents to People’s Choice Awards 2017.”

Kevin Hart tops the list of People’s Choice Awards nominees, with a total of five.

Hart was nominated in the categories “Favorite Movie Actor,” “Favorite Cable TV Actor” and “Favorite Comedic Collaboration,” for his appearance on Conan O’Brien’s “Ride Along” with Ice Cube. The comedian was also nominated for his movies “Central Intelligence” and “The Secret Life of Pets,” and his TV show, “The Real Husbands of Hollywood.”

In the music categories, Drake, Britney Spears and Rihanna lead with four nominations each. “Captain America: Civil War” topped the movie categories with a total of seven nominations, and “Grey’s Anatomy” led in the TV categories with five.

Voting ended on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 11:59 PM, ET.
