CNN has promoted John Antonio to Vice President of Dayside Programming, the network confirms to TheWrap.

Antonio joined CNN in 2011, directing over 50 hours of live programming per week since. He’s also played a large part in CNN International, CNN en Espanol and CNN Digital content.

Antonio helmed coverage of CNN’s coverage of the Arab Spring, the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the death of Osama bin Laden, the trial of George Zimmerman, the 2012 presidential election and the 2014 midterm elections.

He’s replacing Janelle Rodriguez, who left for NBC at the tail end of 2014.

CNN moved up to the No. 2 spot in daytime ratings for 2014, moving ahead of MSNBC.
