“Face the Nation” has scored one of the biggest political interviews of the year: outgoing Speaker of the House John Boehner, presumably uncensored.

Boehner surprised Washington on Friday when he announced his resignation from Congress at the end of October after a tumultuous four-and-a-half-year reign as speaker.

During his tenure, the Ohio congressman and former bartender dealt with what many pundits labeled a “raucous caucus” pitting establishment Republican lawmakers willing to make deals and compromise with Democrats against Tea Party insurgents like the House followers of Senator Ted Cruz, who was instrumental in shutting down the government in opposition to Obamacare.

Boehner has held his tongue for years while dealing with renegades within his own ranks, so it’ll be interesting to see if he lets loose on Sunday in the CBS interview with moderator John Dickerson.

One thing is for sure: Get your tissues ready, as Boehner has a penchant for occasionally shedding a tear or two.
