John Cena is a Bull With a Heart of Gold in ‘Ferdinand’ Trailer (Video)

Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox open the family pic on Dec. 15, 2017

Ever wanted to see John Cena as a bull? Ever wanted to see that bull try and make it through a china shop? Then your wishes are granted in the first trailer for the animated film “Ferdinand,” which Blue Sky Studios and 20th Century Fox released Tuesday.

The family pic is based on the classic children’s book “The Story of Ferdinand” by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson. The book, published in 1936, tells the story of a bull who would rather smell flowers than fight in the ring.

Cena voices the titular bull, who’s taken from his town after he is mistaken for a dangerous beast. He then gathers a ragtag group of animals to help him get back.

“Set in Spain, Ferdinand proves you can’t judge a bull by its cover,” the official synopsis reads.

Other actors providing voices in the film include Kate McKinnon, Gina Rodriguez, Daveed Diggs, Anthony Anderson, Gabriel Iglesias, and David Tennant.

The film comes from Blue Sky Studios, the team behind the “Ice Age” movies and “Rio.” Carlos Saldanha, who has directed a number of Blue Sky productions, directs “Ferdinand.”

“Ferdinand” is set to hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
