John Goodman Joins Cast of ‘King Kong’ Prequel

The actor will play a government official who leads an expedition to the island

John Goodman has joined the cast of “Kong: Skull Island,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The actor will play the role of Randa, a government official who leads an expedition to the island.

Other confirmed actors for the film include Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and John C. Reilly.

The film has a release date of March 10, 2017. While the plot remains under wraps, the story will be set in the mysterious, dangerous island home of the great ape as a team of explorers arrives.

Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod are executive producing, while Max Borenstein, John Gatins and Dan Gilroy wrote the script.

Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce with Mary Parent. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is directing.

Goodman will star in the upcoming film “Trumbo,” as well as “Love the Coopers” and “Going Under.” The Emmy-winning star is best known for his role in the sitcom “Roseanne” and such movies as “The Flintstones” (1994), “The Big Lebowski” (1998), “Argo” (2012), and “The Hangover Part III” (2013)
