John Legend is speaking about against Brett Kavanaugh as the federal judge faces growing scrutiny over an allegation of sexual assault more than three decades ago.

“Who becomes the next Supreme Court justice is the decision of a lifetime. Your lifetime,” said the musician,  “Brett Kavanaugh’s troubling views on the issues that matter most and his rushed confirmation process make him unfit for a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.”

“This fall your senators will vote on Kavanaugh. How they vote will impact you for a lifetime. Tell them to vote ‘no’ on Kavanaugh,” he added, speaking self-style into the camera. “Remember, they answer to you.”

The ad, which was hosted on the Twitter account of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, also featured a number of cameo appearances from individuals representing marginalized groups inquiring about what their various rights would look like on a Supreme Court with Kavanaugh on it.

The ad does not mention any of the current sexual misconduct accusations now swirling aimed at the judge, which now pose significant threat to his nomination.

Last week, the Senate Judiciary committee moved to delay a planned vote on Kavanaugh in order to allow Christine Blasey Ford an opportunity to testify under oath. On Sunday, Ford went public to the Washington Post with an allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her while drunk at a party in the early 1980s. Kavanaugh has categorically denied the charge.
