John Oliver is concerned about technology for multiple reasons.
One is that it’s “the thing that will make television so high def that I will no longer be allowed to appear on it,” Oliver said. But, the host is also worried about “Last Week Tonight” viewers who may not understand one tech topic in particular, in which they could lose a bunch of money if they don’t fully understand it: cryptocurrencies.
To make sure his fans have a grasp on what they could be getting themselves into with bitcoin, Oliver used two very sophisticated teaching tools during his show on Sunday: $15,000 Beanie Babies and Keegan-Michael Key’s rapping skills.
Key spit out a crypto-culture inspired rap, reminding viewers how important it is to be “craeful.” “Never invest more than you are willing to lose,” Key says. Well, you think that would be obvious, but uh, we guess not.
