John Oliver Returns to Blast ‘Pathological Liar’ Donald Trump (Video)

“We have a president capable of standing in the rain and saying it was a sunny day,” HBO’s “Last Week Tonight” host says in season premiere

“Last Week Tonight With John Oliver” returned for a new season on HBO on Sunday night. Its host didn’t waste any time making up for lost time with a flurry of attacks on President Trump — chief among them, that POTUS “has made it clear that reality is not important to him.”

“He’s exaggerated the size of his inauguration crowd, said the election was marred by mass voter fraud with no real proof of that, he also falsely claimed that compared to Muslims it was almost impossible for Christian refugees from Syria to get into the U.S.,” Oliver said, in kicking off his Trump bashing segment. “He even lied about the weather during his inauguration.”

Oliver continued: “We have a president capable of standing in the rain and saying it was a sunny day.”

“Trump’s reality can change within a single sentence,” Oliver quipped, before examining four particular questions: “How did we get a pathological liar in the White House? Where are his lies coming from? Why do so many people believe him? What can we possibly do about it?”

The 24-minute segment went on to explain that Trump lying is “nothing new” and played a montage of examples, including everything from the height of Trump Tower to the nation’s unemployment rate. Oliver even mocked the President’s habit of watching cable news.

“The president seems to tweet about whatever information he just saw on cable news,” Oliver said. “If someone changed the channel to the Sprout network, he’d tweet, “Caillou’s life is boring even for a cancer kid Sad!”
