Jon Stewart’s Advice to the Media: ‘Kick Trump to the Curb’

“Trump lies more in one press conference than CNN does in a year, and that’s coming from a guy who hates CNN,” Stewart says on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”

Jon Stewart stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” to point out the President Trump has been lying. How does the former “Daily Show” host know? “Nobody says, ‘Believe me,’ unless they are lying,” he said.

Colbert opened by discussing the White House decision to exclude certain news organizations from a briefing with Press Secretary Sean Spicer last Friday. That’s when Stewart emerged from beneath the desk to provide his thoughts on the situation.

Stewart said, “Trump lies more in one press conference than CNN does in a year, and that’s coming from a guy who hates CNN.”

When Colbert mentioned that Trump plans to skip the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, the former “Daily Show” host fired back, “I can’t believe the guy has got the balls to get away with that.”

“The Late Show” then played a montage of Trump’s recent comments, with Stewart offering facts on why the statements are false, including the president telling a Jewish reporter that he is the “least anti-Semitic person you’ve ever seen.”

“I don’t think that’s true,” Stewart said. “He said that to a guy wearing a Yakama. Donald, you’re not even the least anti-Semitic person in the clip we showed.”

Before he left, Stewart offered some advice to the mainstream media: “Hey guys, hey media. So, I heard Donald Trump broke up with you. Stings a little doesn’t it? You finally thought you’d met your match. A blabbermouth who’s as thin-skinned and narcissistic as you are. Well now it’s over. Good riddance, I say kick him to the curb. It is time for you to get your groove back, media.”
