In a recent “Judge Judy” episode, Judith Sheindlin settled a dog ownership dispute with a no-nonsense solution: she just let the dog loose in the courtroom to determine its real owner.
A woman claimed to have legally purchased the dog from a woman on the street. However, another man in the courtroom claimed the dog is his. So Judge Judy ordered for the dog to be carried into the courtroom and she let it loose.
No sooner was the dog on the ground did it run over to the male litigant. The dog was evidently too excited to be reunited with the man and licked his face when he was picked up.
“He does that to everybody!” the woman protested, but Judge Judy had already made up her mind.
“That’s all — take the dog home,” Judge Judy said, which was met with cheers from the courtroom.
“That’s what happens when you buy a dog for $50 in front of a mall,” said the male litigant.
