Julia Roberts is trying to avenge her daughter’s death in the first trailer for thriller “Secret in Their Eyes.”
Roberts plays a member of a close-knit team of FBI investigators who discovers that her teenage daughter has been brutally murdered. But when the suspected killer is set free, her partner Ray (Chiwetel Ejiofor) dedicates the next 13 years of his life to finding the necessary evidence to bring the killer to justice, and tries to convince the district attorney (Nicole Kidman) to re-open the case before Robert’s character takes matters into her own hands.
Billy Ray wrote and directed the film, adapting it from Argentine director Juan José Campanella’s 2009 film “El secreto de sus ojos,” which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film the following year.
STX Entertainment will release the film in theaters Oct. 23.
