Kanye West has signed on to perform for the upcoming 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, which air live from Barclays Center on Aug. 25 at 9 p.m./8c from Brooklyn, N.Y.
He will perform his single, "BLKKK SKKKN HEAD." It will be the rapper's seventh performance at the annual event, which ties Madonna for most MTV VMA performances.
To commemorate the significance of the upcoming appointment, MTV Jams and MTV Hits will feature a one hour block of the rapper's videos and performances to commemorate the peformance on Monday at 4 p.m./3c.

West joins previously announced performer Lady Gaga. The rapper released his newest album, "Yeezus," in June.
This year, Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan lead with the most VMA nominations at six each. This is Macklemore & Ryan's first-ever nominations from the awards show. Bruno Mars, Pink, Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus and Thirty Seconds to Mars are also among this year's nominees.

Last year's show delivered 6.1 million total viewers and ranked as the No. 1 telecast on TV for the evening.
