Kate Gosselin Moves Closer to a Talk Show Career

Reality TV’s most famous mom could be paired with celeb chef Paula Deen in a daily chatfest.

Maybe they’ll call it Paula and Kate Plus Cake.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen teamed up with tabloid queen Kate Gosselin over the weekend to tape a pilot for a possible daily syndicated talk show, industry insiders confirmed Monday.

Deen has had a talk show development deal in place with Warner Bros. TV’s Telepictures unit for more than a year. A week ago, E! Online reported that Gosselin — fresh off last week’s guest co-host stint on ABC’s "The View" — could be up for a regular gig co-hosting the show with Deen.

Telepictures is said to be considering multiple formats and possible co-hosts for the Deen show, which may end up resembling a version of "The View." One concept would have the show tied to MomLogic.com, a website owned by Warners.

US magazine’s website reported Monday that, in addition to Deen and Gosselin, comic Julie Gold, journalist Rene Syler and Lee Woodruff were also at the weekend pilot taping.

Gosselin, who shot to fame in TLC’s "Jon and Kate Plus Eight" reality show, confirmed the rumors that she might be going the talk show route at an appearance last week at the Southern Women’s Show in North Carolina.

"I’ve been given the gift of gab, so why not use it?" Gosselin said, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.

Should Telepictures decide to hire Gosselin, it’s most likely the studio would begin pitching the show to local stations for a fall 2010 debut. However, given the heat behind Gosselin, the studio might want to speed up that timetable.

Reps for Telepictures, which produces talk shows fronted by Ellen DeGeneres and Tyra Banks, declined comment.
