New Line is rounding out the cast of “Collateral Beauty” in a big way, as Oscar winner and current nominee Kate Winslet is in negotiations to join Will Smith in the unconventional drama, TheWrap has learned.
David Frankel is directing the movie, which surrounds Smith with a top-notch ensemble including Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Michael Pena and Naomie Harris.
Rachel McAdams had previously been eyed for the key supporting role that her fellow best supporting actress nominee Winslet is nearing a deal to play.

Allan Loeb wrote the script, which follows a successful New York advertising executive (Smith) who experiences a personal tragedy and retreats from life entirely, prompting his colleagues to devise a drastic plan to help him recover.
Anthony Bregman, Kevin Frakes, Bard Dorros, Michael Sugar and Loeb are producing the film, which will hit theaters during the heart of awards season on Dec. 16.

Village Roadshow is co-producing and co-financing the project, which will start production later this month in New York City.
Winslet is coming off a terrific turn in Danny Boyle‘s “Steve Jobs,” which earned her a Golden Globe win as well as an Oscar nomination. She has been nominated for seven Academy Awards, winning for her leading role in “The Reader.” The “Titanic” actress will soon be seen embracing her inner villain in John Hillcoat‘s crime thriller “Triple 9,” which Open Road released on Feb. 26.
Winslet is represented by CAA and United Agents.

Witnesses described "thousands" of guests arriving for the after parties waiting for up to 2.5 hours in a parking garage in Century City for a terribly underproduced and undermanned security checkpoint and transportation hub where 3 or 4 shuttles were ill equipped to transport eager party guests in formal wear to the Beverly Hilton. Whitney Port, Colin Hanks, and Adam Shankman were amongst the high profile names cooling their heels in a parking garage. This needs to be fixed for next year.
