Katie Couric Brushing Up on Daytime Skills With ‘View’ Gig

The former “CBS Evening News” anchor will appear as a co-host on the ABC gabfest

Katie Couric is taking a daytime television trial run in good company.

The recently departed "CBS Evening News" anchor will guest co-host on ABC’s “The View,” on Aug. 3, the network announced on Wednesday.

The appearance will coincide with the final week of the hit gabfest's 14th season.

It also will mark Couric's first appearance on her new network home. The former anchor and the "Today" star signed a deal with ABC in June to create and host a syndicated talk show.

The new gig will reunite her with her former NBC boss Jeff Zucker, who will produce the currently untitled show.

Appearing table-side with the likes of Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg will allow Couric to shake off the hard news veneer she developed at CBS and get back in touch with her emotive side.
