Katie Couric to Host Online Talk Show on Yahoo

Katie Couric, host of an upcoming ABC daytime talk show, will also host a weekly show on Yahoo

Katie Couric has a new show on Yahoo. Yes, the online video giant has lured one of television news’ biggest stars thanks to its relationship with ABC News.

Couric will host “Katie’s Take,” a weekly online talk show, starting May 1, with a focus on health, nutrition, parenting and wellness.

Poland Spring Water is the exclusive sponsor of the series, which will have a dedicated page on Yahoo.

It's one of several shows Yahoo will announce Wednesday at its NewFront event — the equivalent of the television upfronts for online video. Companies like Yahoo, AOL and Hulu are trying to woo advertisers and make the wild west of digital video a veritable business.

Yahoo is a leading producer in that world, as the second biggest online destination for video after YouTube.

The main focus for the former “Today Show” host remains her upcoming syndicated daytime talk show, “Katie,” but this show gives her a digital presence, as well.

“I am happy to have found a place in the digital world where I can cut through fads and trends,” Couric said in a statement. “I want to introduce people to serious experts who can hopefully help provide real solutions.”
