Katie Couric on ‘Today’ Return: ‘I Don’t Think So. No. No. No’ (Video)

The Yahoo! Global Anchor rejected reports that she may return

Katie Couric told CNN’s Bill Weir she had no plans to return to the “Today” show.

Despite reports of discussions that she could replace Savannah Guthrie during Guthrie’s maternity leave, Couric said it probably wasn’t in the cards.

“Would you ever go back?” Weir pressed.

“Uh, I don’t think so, no, no, no,” Couric said.

“I miss the gang, I had a wonderful 15 year run at the ‘Today’ show and you know, I’m still in touch with them,” she said. “They’ll always have a special place in my heart.”

Couric also shared her dirty little secret with Weir: she never woke up at 3:30 in the morning.

“I never got up that early,” Couric said. “I got up at like 5:30 and they would be like, ‘Is she coming in today?’”

NBC News president Deborah Turness also responded to questions about Couric in a recent New York Times article.

“Savannah has been such a big part of the ‘Today’ show’s momentum over the last few months,” Turness said. “While she’s with her newborn we’ll keep that momentum going with our own homegrown talent with perhaps a few surprises mixed in.”
