Katy Perry‘s halftime show was one of the most highly anticipated events of Super Bowl XLIX. And as soon as it began, social media began to blow up (like a “Firework”) in response. While there were some haters criticizing Perry’s vocals and her lack of dance moves, the overwhelming cacophony was supportive.

Her tricks throughout the performance — like her mechanical lion entrance, her entrancing 3-D stage effects and her high-flying finale — seemed to get the most attention, followed by comparisons of her flying “Firework” to the star from NBC’s “One to Grow On” PSA campaign, and all of the “Hunger Games” references.

Once Lenny Kravitz joined a show that already saw Perry riding a lion into the stadium wearing a flaming dress, people were convinced this was a lost chapter of the popular book and film series.

Perry’s Katy-Cats kept the hashtag #KatyPerryHalftimeShow trending deep into the night on Sunday. As the game continued, her fans stayed online to praise her colorful performance, while defending her from any detractors.
