KCET, KMEX Lead Los Angeles Area Emmy Nominations

Winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Television Academy on July 28

The public television station KCET and the Spanish-language KMEX led all stations in nominations for the 70th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, which were announced on Tuesday morning by the Television Academy.

KCET and KMEX tied with 24 nominations each, far more than runners-up KVEA, which had 15, Spectrum SportsNet LA, with 13, and ABC7, CBS2/KCLA9 and NBC4, with 11 each.

Other stations with multiple nominations include KTLA5, 10; Fox Sports West, 5; CBS2 and PBS SoCal, 5; Spectrum SportsNet, 4; Sports West/Prime Ticket, KTTV-TV and LA County Channel, 3; and KLCS and LA Cityview35, 2.

In the news categories, nominees included 25th anniversary series on the 1993 L.A. Riots from CBS2/KCAL9, KTLA5 and ABC7.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, July 28 at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center. Additional winners in the Individual Achievement categories will be announced on June 26, though they will receive their awards at the July ceremony.
