Kelly Day to Depart as Head of Viacom Digital Studios

Stefanie Schwartz will take over

ViacomCBS is shaking up the executive leadership at Viacom Digital Studios, with Kelly Day set to depart and Stefanie Schwartz taking over as executive VP and general manager.

Day is in discussions for another senior role with ViacomCBS, an individual with knowledge of those talks told TheWrap. The news was first reported by Variety. Schwartz has been with VDS since 2018, most recently as executive vice president of strategy and operations, as well as digital partnerships at Viacom Media Networks. Day has led VDS since its inception in 2017, joining from AwesomnessTV.

Schwartz will be in charge of efforts to promote Viacom’s current slate of shows, while also developing new original and branded content for the company to push online. VDS was launched in 2017 as a way to develop original digital programming at a quicker pace that would extend Viacom (and now, presumably, CBS) brands into the digital ecosystem.

In December, Viacom and CBS closed their merger to form ViacomCBS. Ahead of the merger’s closing, the companies already announced a new organizational structure that will see VDS moved under CBS Interactive CEO Marc DeBevoise’s purview.

DeBevoise takes over CBS Interactive (which also runs CBS All Access) from Jim Lanzone. Unlike most other media companies, ViacomCBS will go with a multi-pronged streaming strategy.
