Kellyanne Conway Declines to Endorse Trump’s ‘Morning Joe’ Twitter Attacks (Video)

“The president normally does not draw first blood. He is a counter-puncher,” she tells “Good Morning America”

Kellyanne Conway declined to defend President Donald Trump’s personal attacks on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, while appearing on Friday’s “Good Morning America.”

“The president normally does not draw first blood. He is a counter-puncher,” Conway told “GMA” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos. “I endorse the president’s right to fight back when he is being mercilessly attacked and when the airwaves are filled with raw sewage about him and his fitness for office.”

Stephanopoulos pressed Conway on Trump’s personal attack, in which he said Brzezinski was “bleeding badly from a face-lift” and said “Morning Joe” was poorly rated.

“I didn’t say I endorsed his attacks; I never said that,” Conway said. “What I said was I endorse his ability to fight back when he is attacked.”

“Bottom line, I endorse his ability to connect on social media with Americans and I endorse, as the First Lady has said, him firing back when he is being mercilessly attacked,” Conway said. “The good I hope comes out of this is that we change the conversation; that respect for the office of the president and its current occupant are intact and that we have a full conversation on policy.”

Scarborough and Brzezinski penned an opinion piece in the Washington Post on Friday titled, “Donald Trump is not well,” in response to the president’s Twitter attack.

“The president’s unhealthy obsession with our show has been in the public record for months, and we are seldom surprised by his posting nasty tweets about us,” Scarborough and Brzezinski wrote.
