Actor/comedian Kevin Hart will host this year's MTV Video Music Awards, the network said Wednesday.
Hart, who performed the opening monologue for last year's VMAs, has gained prominence in recent months with appearances in "The Five-Year Engagement" and "Think Like a Man."
Hart's hosting duties were announced via a promo released Wednesday, in which Hart employs celebrity "it" couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to break the news.
The 2012 Video Music Awards air Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.
