Mount Vesuvius isn’t the only thing smoldering in a new teaser trailer for “Pompeii.”
Kit Harrington and his North Wall of chiseled abs are on full display in the first look at the action thriller. Evidence suggests that the “Game of Thrones” star spent much of the HBO’s show’s hiatus studiously avoiding carbs and bench pressing like a gladiator.

Aside from the tantalizing glimpse of Harrington’s toned physique there’s lots of lava, togas and vaguely out of place emo rock. The film centers on a slave who struggles to save the woman he loves and his best friend from the fiery cataclysm.
“Pompeii” co-stars Emily Browning, and Kiefer Sutherland and is directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, the British filmmaker behind “Resident Evil.” It hits theaters in February 2014.
