“That was particularly spicy,” co-star Don Johnson recalls

“Knives Out,” Rian Johnson’s whodunit murder mystery, boasts an all-star cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Toni Collette, Katherine Langford and Daniel Craig — just to name a few. The ensemble only filmed a couple of scenes all together, but the one that stood out to them most was the scene that has already inspired a meme, two months before release of the film. “I remember them all — my favorite was ‘Eat s—‘ — that was particularly spicy,” Don Johnson told TheWrap’s Beatrice Verhoeven at September’s Toronto International Film Festival. Collette, who plays an influencer of some sort, added, “also, talking over each other and improvising… it was so great to have that freedom.” Director Rian Johnson said: “That was my favorite part: letting these guys run and seeing them go was a lot of fun.” The scene went viral when the “Knives Out” trailer was posted, depicting a dysfunctional family coming together following the death of the family’s patriarch, played by Christopher Plummer. Chris Evans — the somewhat black sheep of the group — appears for the reading of the will and gets reprimanded for it given he didn’t show up for the funeral, at which point, he tells multiple irate family members to quite literally “eat s—.” “The stew is even richer because we have people that are not here [at the festival], like Ana de Armas and Daniel Craig and Lakeith Stanfield,” added Curtis. “It’s an even more motley crew. That scene, in particular, is actually the only scene in the movie where all of us are in one room and it’s in that scene where Chris basically gave the movie a meme.”
