Michael Diliberti, who penned "30 Minutes or Less," wrote the script with Stewart in mind for the role of Mya.

Mya and Chris are lovers who had fled Los Angeles but must return to save Mya's sister and battle a series of unsavory characters.

Stewart is best known for her turn as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" franchise, but has plenty of experience in in the indie world.

"She has a great balance between strength and sexiness that is perfect for this character," Zev Foreman, head of development at Voltage, told TheWrap. Foreman is producing with colleague Craig Flores and Dilberti.

Voltage produced "The Hurt Locker," which went on to win the Best Picture Oscar. It has several projects in the works, such as "The Company You Keep," which Robert Redford is directing.

No director is attached yet.

"We want someone who can articulate this poppy L.A. underworld that can really balance the grittiness of the love story and the humor involved," Foreman said of a prospective director.
