Kristin Chenoweth is set to learn about her magical lineage in ABC’s “The Real Fairy Godmother.”

The project from executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron has received a put pilot commitment from ABC.

“Fairy” hails from Universal Television and centers on Chenoweth playing a “real housewife” who discovers she’s descended from a secret order of Fairy Godmothers and is forced to use her magical talents to begrudgingly carry out missions for those in need.

The show is not described as a musical, although the Tony-winning star will break into song occasionally.

Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith are showrunners and executive producing through Goldsmith Yuspa Productions. Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, who both worked on the musical episode of ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” are writing and co-executive producing.

Zadan and Meron are executive producing through Zadan/Meron Productions, while Mark Nicholson, head of development and production at the company, is a co-executive producer. Chenoweth, who appeared earlier this year on “American Gods” and “Younger,” also produces “Fairy.”
