You make a very good point, Kunal Nayyar.
As CBS’s sitcom prepares to return for its 12th and (sniff) final season on Sept. 24, series star Nayyar shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse from the set, sharing a photo with — and his feelings about — co-star Simon Helberg.
“Twelve years, with my brother from another,” Nayyar wrote in an Instagram post.
“I swear he loves me, I think,” the actor, who plays Raj Koothrappali on the sitcom, added.
The photo he shared in the Instagram seemed to reflect the ambivalence. While the picture featured Nayyar with one hand planted on Helberg’s shoulder and the other pointing a finger at his co-star as his face beamed with appreciation, Helberg’s expression was a bit more dubious.
Meanwhile, fans were upfront with their emotions in the comments section of the post.
“This seriously crushes me. I hate that this the last season,” one commenter wrote.
“I don’t want it to be over!” wrote another fan. “I tried so many times to see a live taping and could never get in. I love Big Bang theory!! Thank you for making me laugh so much!”
“Big Bang Theory” fans received the news in August that the show would be drawing to a close, as Warner Bros. Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre announced that the upcoming 12th season of the show, which premieres Sept. 24, will be the show’s last, with the series wrapping up in May 2019.
In a joint statement, Warner Bros. Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions said, “We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring ‘The Big Bang Theory’ to an epic creative close.”
