Fox News host Laura Ingraham wasn’t a fan of Peter Strzok’s testimony on Capitol Hill, Thursday, telling viewers on her program that many of the jabs and barbs thrown at him didn’t land during the nine-hour session.
“I have to say that I was looking forward to this,” said Ingraham. “But I thought at times it wasn’t working for the Republicans.”
In particular, Ingraham criticized Texas GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert, who asked Strzok about his affair with FBI lawyer Lisa Page.
“I like Louie Gohmert a lot,” said Ingraham. “I thought that moment, that exchange with Gohmert and Strzok — I didn’t think that was good — and I wouldn’t want to have been one of the Republicans on that committee when that went down.”
Ingraham didn’t think too highly of Strzok either, calling him “priggish,” which she also said was a bad look for any witness.
The FBI agent and former Mueller probe investigator was called to Congress to answer GOP grievances over his conduct at the FBI. Strzok has been a target for criticism among Republicans, asserting that a deep state plot against President Trump as a result of several text exchanges he had with Page during the campaign.
One moment zeroed in by many was Strzok and Page’s messages from 2016, in which the pair seemingly spoke about their personal desire to prevent Trump from winning the presidential election.
“[Trump’s] not ever going to become president, right? Right?!” Page texted.
“No. No he won’t. We’ll stop it,” Strzok texted back.
In his explanation yesterday, Strzok said that he made the comment in anger after President Trump insulted the family of a dead U.S. war hero and insisted that he was not speaking about the FBI, but rather the American people.
“You need to understand that that was written late at night, off-the-cuff and it was in response to a series of events that included then-candidate Trump insulting the immigrant family of a fallen war hero, and my presumption based on that horrible disgusting behavior [was] that the American population would not elect someone demonstrating that behavior to be president of the United States,”
