‘Law and Order: SVU’ Showrunner Rick Eid Leaves for ‘Chicago P.D.’

He replaces Matt Olmstead on the NBC cop drama

“Law & Order: SVU” showrunner Rick Eid has exited the venerable procedural to take the top writing job at “Chicago P.D.”

Eid takes over as showrunner for Matt Olmstead, who exited “P.D.” at the end of Season 4. Olmstead co-created “P.D.” with Dick Wolf, who also created the “Law & Order” franchise.

A replacement has not yet been named for “SVU,” which was picked up for a 19th season on Friday.

“P.D.,” which was renewed for Season 5 on Wednesday, stars Jason Beghe, Jon Seda, Sophia Bush, Jesse Lee Soffer and Patrick Flueger. “SVU” stars Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T.
