The Wrap has partnered with Canvs, the emotion analytics company, for a weekly look at some of the characters and personalities that have TV viewers the most worked up on social media. The data below covers June 7-13 and is drawn from the most emotionally reacted-to television shows, including broadcast, cable, streaming and PPV.
Despite his team losing to the Golden State Warriors during Game 5 of the the NBA Finals, which prompted 843,462 Emotional Reactions (ERs), Cleveland Cavalier LeBron James was the most mentioned player of the night. (Interestingly enough, LeBron snagged 18.5% of all ERs while the official MVP, Kevin Durant, had only 10.8%.) Viewer opinions of the basketball star ran the gamut, with some professing love and saying he was still the G.O.A.T. — greatest of all time — while others had, shall we say, less kind things to say.

Viewers went nuts for Ben Platt during the 71st Annual Tony Awards on CBS (120,091 ERs). The actor, best known for his roles in “Pitch Perfect,” “Pitch Perfect 2” and “The Book of Mormon,” won the Tony Sunday night for his work as the main character in Broadway’s “Dear Evan Hansen.” As he fired off an enthusiastic acceptance speech full of thanks to his coworkers, friends and family, people poured out messages of love and congratulations (with more than a few commenting about his cuteness).
