Warner Bros. has hired Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of the Netflix animated series “BoJack Horseman,” to rewrite the script for “The Lego Movie Sequel,” TheWrap has learned.

The project marks his first foray into writing for the big screen.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who directed the original, wrote the first draft of the sequel.

They are busy getting ready to film Lucasfilm’s Han Solo “Star Wars” spinoff.

Rob Schrab (“Community”) is directing “The Lego Movie Sequel,” and Lord and Miller are on as producers. Dan Lin and Roy Lee are also returning to the comedic fantasy film as producers.

Set for a May 18, 2018, release, “The Lego Movie Sequel” will actually be the fourth film in the Warner Bros. franchise. Next up is “The Lego Batman Movie,” coming out on Feb. 10, 2017, and then there’s “The Lego Ninjago Movie,” set for Sept. 22, 2017.

Bob-Waksberg is represented by CAA, lawyer Jeff Endlich and manager Joel Zadak of Principato-Young Entertainment.
