‘The Lego Ninjago Movie’ Trailer Reveals Dave Franco’s ‘Bad Blood’ With Evil Dad (Video)

More Lego mayhem, all scored to Taylor Swift hit

With “The Lego Batman Movie” expected to top the box office this weekend, Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the next entry in the big-screen toy-inspired franchise, “The Lego Ninjago Movie.”

The preview, scored to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood,” promises laughs, action and lots and lots of Legos.

Based on Lego’s ninja-themed toys (the Ninjago of the title), the adventure centers on Master Builder Lloyd, a.k.a. the Green Ninja (voiced by Dave Franco), who teams up with other Ninjago ninjas led by Master Wu (Jackie Chan) to defeat the evil Garmadon (Justin Theroux).

In a nod to the original “Star Wars,” Garmadon is revealed to also be Lloyd’s father in the trailer.

Directed by Charlie Bean (“TRON: Uprising”), the third big-screen Lego outing looks to feature the hallmarks that made the first film such a hit: visually spectacular animation, irreverent humor and strong voice work.

On top of Franco, Chan and Theroux, “The Lego Ninjago Movie” will feature the voices of Olivia Munn, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson and Michael Peña.

“The Lego Ninjago Movie” is due in theaters on September 22, 2017, followed by the sequel to the original “Lego Movie,” which is currently slated for a 2019 release.
