While Hollywood insiders were buzzing Saturday about Leonardo DiCaprio backing out as host of a planned Hillary Clinton fundraiser in Los Angeles, the Academy Award winner and his Danish girlfriend, Nina Agdal, were involved in minor accident on the East Coast.
The duo’s Ranger Rover was rear-ended by a Mini Cooper while traveling in New York’s Hamptons. According to the New York Post, neither DiCaprio nor Agdal were hurt, but the female driver of the small car was pretty shaken up.
“Leo was nice about it,” an unnamed witness told The Post. “He motioned for her to come with him, and he helped her over to the guardrail so she could rest.”
Although the woman wasn’t injured, an ambulance arrived as a precaution to check her out.
DiCaprio was set to host Hillary Clinton’s $33,400-per-guest fundraiser in his Hollywood Hills home Saturday night but Justin Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel took over headlining duties at the last minute.
Earlier reports suggested the change was in response to a Department of Justice investigation into ties between DiCaprio’s charitable foundation and a $3 billion embezzlement scheme, but a person with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap the change was due to “scheduling issues” on DiCaprio’s part.
