Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” has been granted a full season order.
The broadcast network announced Wednesday that its freshman drama, a TV adaptation of the 1987 film, has scored five more episodes, totaling 18 for the 2016-2017 season.
“‘Lethal Weapon’ delivers an explosive and wildly entertaining core relationship between two cops, with dynamic performances by Damon Wayans and Clayne Crawford, surrounded by cinematic action, endearing humor and true heart,” said David Madden, president, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “Matt Miller, McG, Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz have done a tremendous job on this show, which has proven to be a self-starter and solid companion for ‘Empire’. We are thrilled to add these episodes to ‘Lethal Weapon’s’ first season.”
Thanks in large part to airing before “Empire” (remember those days, “Rosewood?”), “Lethal Weapon” recently landed Fox’s highest-rated fall premiere in two years, totaling a 3.2 rating in the key 18-49 demographic when counting a week’s worth of delayed viewing. Thus far, the show’s 3.0 average episode rating by that same metric ties it with CBS’ “Bull” among the advertiser-coveted age-range.
“Lethal Weapon” is a production of Warner Bros. Television in association with Lin Pictures and Good Session Productions. Matt Miller, Dan Lin, Jennifer Gwartz and McG serve as executive producers. The pilot was written by Miller and directed by McG.
A new episode airs tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox.
