The Sept. 26 appearance will mark the first time that a sitting British prime minister has appeared on a CBS late-night program. (former PM Tony Blair has appeared twice on "Late Show.)

Cameron, who has been the United Kingdom's prime minister since 2010, will be in New York to take part in the United Nations' General Assembly.

During Romney's now-infamous "47 percent" speech at a Florida fundraiser, the former Massachusetts governor told donors that Letterman "hates me" because he appeared more often on Jay Leno's rival late-night show. Letterman has since denied that claim, inviting Romney on-air to appear on his show again.
