Sharon Levy was promoted to executive vice president, original series and animation, at Spike TV. Network president Kevin Kay, to whom she reports, made the announcement Tuesday.
The Los Angeles-based Levy previously was senior VP of original series at the guy-centric cable network.
Levy will continue to oversee production and development for Spike’s increasing number of original series.
Many of Levy’s projects, including projects "Weapon X," "Alternative History" and "On the Rocks," were on the ambitious development slate that Spike announced last week.
Levy will be charged with expanding the network’s slate of original animation targeted to young men.
"We’re thrilled to have Sharon in this key original programming role,” Kay said in a statement. “She has been instrumental in bringing top-flight talent to Spike. Her ability to connect with the Spike viewer has resulted in developing many of the network’s top-rated series. Now we look forward to develop original animation using her talents for our guy-centric audience.”
Levy, who joined Spike in 2005, has overseen development of series including "Deadliest Warrior," "Pros vs. Joes," "MANswers" and the successful weekend afternoon auto-related shows, "The Power Block."
She previously was executive VP/executive producer at Stone & Company Entertainment (formerly known as Stone Stanley Entertainment). She also has produced programs for Fox, WB, Comedy Central and MTV.
