Lisa Levenson, Alex Piper Join Simon Andreae’s Fox Reality Team

Amy Cohen is promoted to executive director of the Alternative Entertainment team

Fox Broadcasting Company has named Lisa Levenson senior vice president and Alex Piper vice president of Alternative Entertainment, the team previously led by Mike Darnell and now led by Simon Andeae.

The moves were announced Tuesday by Andreae, Fox’s executive vice president of Alternative Entertainment. Both will report to him. Levenson and Piper will lead the day-to-day management of the network’s returning unscripted programs and specials, and help develop and expand the network’s new unscripted fare.

Amy Cohen, a member of Fox’s unscripted team since 2005, has been promoted to executive director, Alternative Entertainment. Cohen helps oversee shows such as “American Idol,” “Hell’s Kitchen” and “X Factor.” Most recently, she helped launch “MasterChef” and “MasterChef Junior,” and continues to oversee the franchise.

Previously, Levenson was executive vice president of Development for Cineflix Productions, where she launched the Los Angeles office and oversaw both development and production. Levenson has also served as an executive producer on 14 cycles of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” for ABC. She has also held producer roles on CBS’ “Big Brother,” ABC’s “General Hospital” and the syndicated talk show, “The Jerry Springer Show.”

Prior to joining Fox, Piper served as senior vice president, Alternative Television for Asylum Entertainment, where he helped develop, launch and oversee Asylum’s unscripted slate. In the role, he executive-produced numerous series, including “Being Mike Tyson” for Fox Sports 1, “The Locator” for WE tv, and “Addicted” for TLC. Piper also served as supervising producer on the Peabody Award-winning medical docuseries “Hopkins” for ABC and was a producer for NBC Sports and NBC Olympics, receiving six Emmy Awards for Olympic and other sports events coverage.

“Lisa and Alex come to us with strong backgrounds, both as showrunners and as senior production company executives,” Andreae said. “As such, each is perfectly equipped not only to support our current unscripted slate, but also to help shape the next generation of hit Fox shows. We’re truly delighted to have them join.”

In October, following a months-long search, Fox hired Andreae, a former Discovery executive, to fill the role vacated by Darnell. Darnell moved on to Warner Bros. TV as president.
