Lucasfilm to Break Ground on Singapore Facility

Building will be the first production facility the company has built outside the U.S.

Lucasfilm announced Monday that it will break ground on a new state-of-the-art production facility in Singapore at the beginning of next year.

Announcement of the eight-floor building coincides with the fifth anniversary of the company in Singapore. It will also be the first production facility built overseas by Lucasfilm.

The fully integrated facility will house Lucasfilm Singapore, which includes units for TV and feature animation, special effects (Industrial Light and Magic) and videogames (LucasArts). It will also be available for rent by outside company.

Lucasfilm has set a 2012 target date for the building's completion.
