We know, we know, Lucifer doesn’t lie — but Ellis did

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Tuesday’s episode of “The Flash,” which was Part 3 of The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths’ crossover.)

Well, well, well, seems the Devil can tell a lie after all — if it’s for a good cause, that is.

“Lucifer” star Tom Ellis, who previously denied reports he would be playing Lucifer Morningstar during an installment of The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, showed up as the DC Comics universe character on Tuesday’s episode of “The Flash” — which was part of the crossover. Right, so he totally lied.

Lucifer appears during the hour when Diggle (David Ramsey), Mia (Katherine McNamara) and Constantine (Matt Ryan) are trying to get Arrow/Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) soul back into his body, and head over to Earth-666 to gain entry into Hell via the Prince of the Underworld himself. Lucifer allows them in so they can retrieve Oliver’s soul and Lucifans went wild on social media.

Ellis took to Twitter on Tuesday after the episode aired to apologize for lying but make it clear that it was really for your benefit.

“Ok I’m sorry I fibbed about being in #CrisisOnInfinteEarths !!! BUT we were desperately trying to keep it a surprise but then unfortunately some paparazzi spoiled the surprise…so…it was a mild attempt to put the genie back in the bottle.#lucifer however does not lie,” the Netflix star tweeted.

Alright, now do you forgive him?
