Lynne Segall Lands at MMC

Recently-ousted L.A. Times ad VP joins Deadline parent

Lynne Segall, former Hollywood Reporter publisher and advertising executive who was ousted by the Los Angeles Times in May, has landed on her feet at Mail.com Media Corporation.

Segall was named vice president and publisher of MMC Entertainment on Tuesday.

In the newly-created role, Segall will oversee ad sales and business development strategies for Deadline.com, HollywoodLife.com, Movieline.com and the Young Hollywood Awards, Style Awards and Breakthrough Of The Year Awards. She will report to chairman and CEO Jay Penske.

Segall was laid off following the Times’ “realignment” of part of its ad sales department.

Segall, who at one point served as associate publisher at the Hollywood Reporter for 15 years, had been at the Times since 2006.

"It was sudden," Segall told TheWrap in May. "I was brought in to manage the entertainment division on a strategic level. We launched the Envelope and some great events. They wanted to flatten the structure with fewer managers." Segall said she was the only manager let go.

"My focus was to bring a trade perspective to the paper, connecting it to that part of the business," Segall said. "I'm very proud of my legacy."

That legacy included several clashes with the editorial staff over high-priced Hollywood ads that sometimes took over the front page of the paper.
