Weeks after leaving her radio show at KPCC, Madeleine Brand was named on Tuesday a contributor to KCET's "SoCal Connected."
The show, which previously aired on a weekly cycle, will begin a daily broadcast schedule on the public television station at 7 and 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 29.
Brand, whose resumé mostly includes public radio work, will be a featured interviewer, while host Val Zavala will remain the show's moderator.
"We have one of the strongest producing/reporting teams in Southern California, and are honored to add Madeleine to that group," Bret Marcus, KCET's chief content officer and the show's executive producer, said in a statement. "She is a terrific broadcaster who has developed a loyal following among both listeners and newsmakers."
Brand departed KPCC last month after her popular one-hour "Madeleine Brand Show" became the "Brand & Martinez Show," with the station forcing a shotgun marriage on her and pairing the news veteran with former sportscaster A. Martinez.

Brand was clearly uncomfortable with the news novice Martinez, whose arrival coincided with a three-year, $6 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that requires the station to beef up its Latino presence.
Brand was replaced by Alex Cohen, the station's anchor for its afternoon segments of "All Things Considered." The Cohen & Martinez show is called "Take Two," but the names of the hosts are not included in the title.
